Enjoy some romantic sightseeing on a Seychelles honeymoon

Article by Dipika Patel

There are few better ways to celebrate your marriage than by booking all inclusive Seychelles honeymoons. The islands are among the most beautiful places you will ever visit and you will be able to spend your holiday being pampered in a luxurious resort.

Should you choose to head out from your upmarket hotel for some sightseeing, you will discover the Indian Ocean archipelago has a number of romantic locations, far removed from the stresses and strains of everyday living.

One place you will not want to miss is the island of Praslin, which is home to some stunning beaches and the world-famous Vallee de Mai. The primeval palm forest has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its coco de mer trees, which bear the largest nut in the world.

Take a stroll through the forest and you are sure to be astonished by the beauty and tranquillity of your surroundings. You will also understand why the Britons who travelled to the Seychelles in the 19th century believed Vallee de Mai was the Garden of Eden.

Island hopping is a straightforward task on Seychelles holidays, as there are regular boat services between the larger communities, but you are likely to spend much of your time sightseeing on Mahe.

The largest island in the archipelago and home to the capital Victoria, Mahe has a wealth of natural attractions to explore. Don’t miss the array of exotic birds that call the wetlands of Roche Caiman Sanctuary home or the wilderness of the Morne Seychellois Park, an area that shows how the islands looked before European settlers arrived.

Le Jardin Du Roi is another must-see attraction. This spice plantation on the site of an 18th century farmstead is a great place for a romantic walk, with the plants ensuring there is a fantastic aroma in the air.

The National Botanical Gardens, which is located close to Victoria, has five acres of beautifully manicured landscape and lots of tropical species to explore. Many holidaymakers prefer the Kot Man-Ya Exotic Flower Garden, which boasts orchids, caladiums, fruit trees and anthuriums among its collection. Take a stroll through the tranquil surroundings and you will also see giant tortoises, geckos and sun birds.

Mahe has some fine religious architecture, including the cathedral of St Paul and the colourful Arul Mihu Navasakthi Vinayagar Hindu temple. Perhaps the most memorable building on the island is La Domus, an imposing looking house built by catholic missionaries.

You may also enjoy a visit to the Tea Factory plantation and the Kreole Institute. Both structures have modern uses, but are remarkable as examples of the architectural style used during the Seychelles’ time as a French and British colony.

Of course, while sightseeing is a great way to fill a few hours during your honeymoon, you are likely to be more concerned about the quality of your hotel. Choose the Sainte Anne Resort & Spa and you will have no worries on that score, as the luxurious complex is renowned as the top destination for all inclusive Seychelles holidays.

You can look forward to staying in a private villa, with its own gazebo and garden area, on a small island in the heart of the tranquil Sainte Anne Marine National Park. When you aren’t relaxing on the deserted beach, you will be able to try a host of activities, before spending the evening drinking champagne and eating dinner in one of the resort’s excellent restaurants.
